Elswick Labour welcomes confirmation that West End Women and Girls Centre is among 20 Newcastle organisations receiving support through the Labour Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund.
£400,000 in grants have been announced across the City following 68 applications. The individual awards range from £10,700 to £30,000 and are intended to support practical improvements to community places and spaces.
The centre, based on Elswick Road, provides an open-access community space and a programme of groups and activities for women and girls. Its work includes opportunities to build confidence, develop skills, meet others and take part in community life.
An Elswick Labour spokesperson said:
“West End Women and Girls Centre has supported generations of women and girls in our community. We are pleased to see it included in this investment and look forward to the centre setting out the improvements the funding will make possible.”
