Stephen Powers has been selected as the Labour Party Candidate for the Ouseburn Ward by-election on 15th November 2012.
Stephen has lived in the community for the last 7 years and has worked alongside Labour councillors on many community projects to improve the area. Stephen has campaigned to reduce the impact the large student population has on the area, to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and has fought for the rights of disabled people and those most vulnerable in society.
Stephen said, “I’m passionate about representing the people in my area. I have worked to support my community and those who live here for a short time. Campaigning for those most vulnerable in society I joined a march in London recently against the cuts imposed on our city by this Lib Dem backed government. I am proud to support Newcastle Labour’s enough is enough campaign against the government’s unfair cuts in Newcastle.
