Chi Onwurah MP and former Lemington councillor Stephen Barry-Stanners were delighted to attend the Lemington Scouts Annual General Meeting, where they joined families, volunteers and community members in celebrating the achievements of local young people.
The evening recognised the hard work and dedication of Scouts from across the group, with badges presented to members for their accomplishments throughout the year. It was an especially proud occasion as four Scouts received the prestigious Chief Scout’s Gold Award – the highest award in the Scout section.
The AGM also highlighted the invaluable contribution the Scout group makes to the Lemington community, providing young people with opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills and lifelong friendships, while being supported by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Chi Onwurah and Stephen Barry-Stanners praised everyone involved for their commitment to creating opportunities for young people and reaffirmed their ongoing support for community organisations that make such a positive difference locally.

“It was a real privilege to attend the AGM and celebrate the achievements of so many inspiring young people. Congratulations to everyone who received an award, particularly the four Scouts who achieved the Chief Scout’s Gold Award – an incredible accomplishment.
“During our time as Lemington councillors, Barry Phillipson and I were proud to support the Scout group and the fantastic work they do for young people in our community. Organisations like this are at the heart of Lemington, bringing people together and giving young people the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
“That support doesn’t end now we are no longer councillors. Alongside Chi Onwurah, we’ll continue to champion the Scouts and the vital role they play in our community because investing in our young people is investing in the future of Lemington.”
Chi Onwurah added that strong communities are built by local people who volunteer their time to support others and create opportunities for the next generation.
