Families in Newbiggin Hall are set to benefit from £52,000 of investment in Galafield Play Area as Newcastle Labour continues its programme of improving children’s play facilities across the city.
Newcastle’s Labour-led council has approved £52,000 for improvements at Galafield, providing further investment in facilities for children and families in the local community.
The funding builds on Labour’s wider programme of investment in Newcastle’s play spaces, which is designed to provide children with better-quality, more attractive and accessible places to play close to home.
Galafield is already an important community location for families in Newbiggin Hall, with the Galafield Centre becoming one of Newcastle’s Children and Families Hubs.
Investing in the play area will further improve facilities available locally and support Labour’s commitment to give children and young people opportunities to play, socialise and stay active within their own neighbourhood.
The £52,000 investment forms part of the council’s work to protect and improve open spaces, sports and recreational facilities as Newcastle grows and develops.
A Kingston Park South & Newbiggin Hall Labour councillor said: “Galafield is at the heart of the Newbiggin Hall community and this £52,000 investment is another welcome improvement for local children and families.
“Labour has been investing in play facilities across Newcastle because children deserve good-quality places to play and be active close to where they live.
“We want to keep improving facilities in Newbiggin Hall and make sure investment in our city translates into visible improvements in local neighbourhoods.”
