Your Labour councillors are delivering on their commitment to make Fenham’s streets safer, cleaner and better places to live through plans to reduce unnecessary through traffic.
For years residents have raised concerns about speeding vehicles, congestion and rat-running on residential roads.
Now, after listening to local people, Labour-led Newcastle City Council is moving forward with plans designed to make walking, cycling and playing outside safer while reducing traffic on neighbourhood streets.
More than 500 residents responded to the consultation, and Labour councillors have acted on that feedback.
As a result, changes have already been made to the proposals, including pausing the suggested closure at Moorside South and Fenham Hall Drive while further discussions take place.
Councillors will also continue working with local schools to tackle school traffic and ensure the scheme works for residents.
