Benwell and Scotswood Councillor Susan Anthony has made a remarkable personal donation to support children and young people facing hair loss by donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust.
After growing her hair for several years, Susan decided the time was right to make the donation. Her long, thick hair will now be used to create a real hair wig for a child or young person who has lost their own hair as a result of cancer treatment or another medical condition.
The Little Princess Trust provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people up to the age of 24, helping to restore confidence and offer comfort during what can be an incredibly difficult time.
Councillor Susan Anthony said:
“I’m pleased to be able to donate my very long and very thick hair and hope it gives some comfort to children going through a very traumatic time in their lives. I’d urge others to consider doing this too. Now the hair has been cut and donated, I feel a lot lighter!”
Susan’s generous act is a wonderful example of how a simple gesture can make a lasting difference to the lives of others.
