Keeping local streets safe remains a key priority for Blakelaw Labour councillors.
Following concerns raised by residents, councillors recently joined Northumbria Police and council highways officers to inspect several roads across the ward.
Issues including congestion on Binswood Avenue, inconsiderate parking, damaged verges, speeding traffic and abandoned vehicles were all reviewed during the visit.
A report is now being prepared outlining possible improvements to help make local roads safer for everyone.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the report and will consult with residents if any changes are proposed.”
Residents’ views will continue to shape any future improvements.
