Throckley, Walbottle and Newburn
About Throckley, Walbottle and Newburn
Throckley, Walbottle and Newburn ward, in west Newcastle upon Tyne, has a strong industrial heritage shaped by coal mining, quarrying, and the River Tyne. Newburn was historically a riverside settlement with links to industry and the Battle of Newburn in 1640. Today, the ward combines former mining villages, historic sites, countryside, and modern communities.
