We have recently been made aware of a number of car related crimes in the area including thefts of vehicles and items being stolen from inside cars. We have been liaising with the police and council funded EPIC (Empowering People In Communities) to carry out some targeted work to support people who have been victims of those crimes and to give advice to residents in the affected areas on how to keep themselves and their property safe.
Some of the Advice we have received from the police is to keep items out of sight, especially money and valuables, try to park under a street light if possible, use dash cams that activate when a vehicle is opened and using air tags to track a vehicle if it is stolen. Steering locks can also help.
