Plans to invest £20 million in Fawdon and North Kenton are moving forward as work gets underway on the Pride in Place programme.
The funding will provide a major opportunity to invest in the area over the coming years, with local people helping to shape how the money is used to improve their communities.
Newcastle North MP Catherine McKinnell has welcomed the progress after attending the first meeting of the newly selected Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.
She said:
“I am so excited that Pride in Place is well and truly underway. With £20 million for Fawdon and North Kenton, this is our chance to really transform our community for the better.
“This week we held our first meeting with the newly selected Neighbourhood Board, and already we are making progress.
“I’m looking forward to working with local residents and partners to make sure this investment delivers a lasting difference for Fawdon and North Kenton.”
