Dene and South Gosforth Labour welcomes confirmation that Disability North is among 20 voluntary and community organisations receiving support through the Labour Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund.
£400,000 in grants have been announced across Newcastle, with individual awards of between £10,700 and £30,000 for improvements to places and spaces.
Disability North is based at the Dene Centre on Castle Farm Road. The organisation provides advice and practical support for disabled people, their families and carers, including help with welfare benefits and direct payments, personal-assistant recruitment, and accessibility training.
A Dene and South Gosforth Labour spokesperson said:
“Disability North provides trusted advice and support to thousands of people and brings valuable lived experience to work on accessibility and inclusion. We welcome its inclusion in the fund and look forward to learning how the award will improve its facilities or services.”
