Newcastle Labour are proud to be White Ribbon ambassadors

On average, a woman is killed by a man in the UK every three days, and one in twelve women in England and Wales will experience stalking, harassment, sexual assault or domestic violence.

At last night’s full Council meeting your Labour Councillors brought and approved a motion celebrating the progress the council have made in tackling violence against women and girls while recognising there is a lot more to be done.

The motion resolved that council would encourage all elected members and more council employees to become White Ribbon ambassadors and champions to help further this cause for women and girls in our city.

Everyone deserves to live and work in an environment where they feel safe and it is right that efforts are focused to ensure this is true of those who are statistically more likely to experience violence. Your Labour Council will always fight for the safety of women and girls in our communities.

White Ribbon day is the 25th of November and we would encourage everyone to show support by wearing the ribbon.
