Having represented Blakelaw and Cowgate as a councillor from 2022 to 2026, Juna has a strong track record of standing up for residents and getting things done.
A Blakelaw resident and mum whose children attend a local primary school, Juna understands the issues facing local families and is committed to improving the area.
During her time as a councillor, she worked closely with residents, council officers, housing teams and the police to tackle issues including housing repairs, waste, parking and anti-social behaviour. Known for her hands-on approach, she regularly carried out community walkabouts and home visits, ensuring residents’ concerns were heard and acted upon.
In 2021, Juna founded Clean Community, Clean World, a weekly litter-picking initiative bringing together families, schools and residents to improve their neighbourhoods.
Alongside her community work, Juna is an award-winning scientist and Associate Professor at a university in Newcastle.
Juna is determined to continue working with residents to make Blakelaw, Cowgate and North Fenham cleaner, greener and safer places to live.
