This morning Cllrs Stephen Barry-Stanners and Barry Phillipson joined Dee and Kevin from EPiC, along with Eve and Dean from Northumbria Police, for a ward walkabout to check in on local issues.
Later in the afternoon, they brought together a range of partners, including Northumbria Police, Tyne & Wear Fire Service, housing officers, community groups, and officers from across the council, for their regular multi-agency meeting.
Working together like this means they can share intelligence, tackle issues more effectively, and deliver long-lasting improvements for residents.
On motorbike disorder decisive action has been taken by working with local residents to gather community impact statements. Councillors and the Lemington neighbourhood police team have consulted with Highways Department to put in place traffic calming measures. Alongside high visibility policing patrols, Northumbria Police have launched Operation Capio, where dedicated enforcement days have identified prolific nuisance riders which has already lead to several vehicle being seized and destroyed.
