Denton & Westerhope Labour’s has slammed Liberal Democrat Councillors for trying to derail the Outer West Leisure Centre project.
Local Activist Vince said:
“I am deeply concerned to see a Liberal Democrat Councillor from the East End of the city attempting to derail the project through a special call-in hearing. This is a scheme for the Outer West, shaped by years of local campaigning and backed by significant investment. It deserves support, not obstruction – and this cynical move by a LibDem councillor from the East End shows that it’s only Labour who will deliver it.
Our Labour team here in Denton & Westerhope, and across the Outer West, have worked tirelessly to keep the project on track, and I stand with them.
Now, with planning permission granted and revised designs in place, we need unity and urgency – not political point-scoring. The Outer West has waited long enough. We cannot afford further delays, especially when they’re triggered by councillors who don’t represent our area, don’t understand our priorities and couldn’t care less about the lives of people in the Outer West.
I will fight tooth-and-nail to see this project completed. Because people in the Outer West deserve a modern facility which reflects the ambition of the people who live here
