A £250,000 investment is being made to upgrade the play space beside Leisure United in Blakelaw, creating a safer, modern and more inclusive place for children and families.

The funding is part of the Labour Council’s wider programme to improve play areas across Newcastle and will deliver new play equipment, improved surfacing and better accessibility, so children of all abilities can play side by side.

The upgraded space will give families a high quality place to play close to home and support children’s health, confidence and wellbeing.

Karen Kilgour said, “This investment will make a real difference for families in the area. Play spaces bring people together and help make our neighbourhoods better places to live, and I am delighted this funding is coming to the area.”

Installation work will begin soon and we are excited to keep residents informed as the project progresses.
